In an effort to better serve its customers and keep up with the fast growing community of San Pedro Town, Quality Poultry Products Ltd officially opened its newly refurbished branch at their Mangrove Drive location on Saturday, October 26th. Throughout the day, patrons took advantage of the various deals available in poultry and grocery products. Some of them also walked away with fabulous raffled prizes while enjoying refreshments under a tent in front of the new building.
The event drew hundreds of customers who waited patiently for the new store to open. Shortly after 10AM, a short official ceremony saw Andres Salgado, in charge of Quality Poultry Belize City branch, welcoming everyone. Following an invocation from Pastor Clive Welsh, Chairman of the Board of Directors Allen Reimer addressed the gathering. He gave an insight into of the humble beginnings of the Quality Poultry Products, which was established in 1975. According to Reimer, their poultry products are of high quality as they are free of additives. “It is selected breeding and at no point hormonal additives have been used to make the chicken grow faster,” said Reimer. He added that Quality Poultry was the first company in Belize to be certified to Hazard Analysis and Common Control Points standard. It is a world standard that the company pledges to maintain, while keeping their products affordable for their customers.
General Manager Raymond Barkman indicated that the upgrade of their branch on the island is a very big investment. “San Pedro is growing and we know it is not going to stop anytime soon,” said Barkman. “This location is key as we boat in all our chicken, park on the river and push it in the freezer for distribution.” He further thanked everyone for their continued support, stating that the company will continue evolving for the betterment of their customers. Barkman was also happy to explain how their sewage system is set up so that impurities and pollutants are treated without running off into the lagoon nearby. “We have a septic tank system which is designed under this building along with a leach field on all its three sides. The waste gets cleaned first in the septic tank and then after in the leach field avoiding any pollutant from reaching the lagoon,” explained Barman. The Ambergris Caye Building Unit commended Quality Poultry Products for adhering to their building regulations during the construction process.
Giving his stamp of approval was Area Representative and Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Manuel Heredia Jr. “I believe we have to commend Quality Poultry for their continued quality of service and products. I am proud of this type of development happening in San Pedro. This is the fastest growing municipality and as such we have to be careful that we develop in a sustainable way,” Heredia noted.
San Pedro Branch Manager Ana Garcia thanked everyone for coming out and welcomed everyone inside the store. As customers flocked the store, they took advantage of the slashed prices for the day, including whole chicken going for as low as low as $1.65 per pound. For every purchase, customers were given tickets to enter a raffle. A couple lucky winners walked away with fabulous prizes like bicycles and microwaves. A discount of 0.50 cents was also available on other Quality Poultry products. Meanwhile outside the store, the crowd was entertained with music and free chicken samples including bites from Western Meat Companies Running W Brand and Country Meats.
