As Belize is preparing to face an unprecedented challenge with individuals, communities and industries to battle what has the potential to cripple its economy and the health of the nation, the Santander Sugar Group stands in solidarity with the Government of Belize to help respond to what is potentially the worst outbreak our country has ever seen.
Santander Sugar Group is cognizant of the impact of this virus and has activated its strategy to keep its employees healthy and safe. As a company, we have taken all necessary precaution and will remain vigilant. We have altered our operations and have in place a framework that puts us in a better position to respond to the public health threat of the coronavirus as well as to remain able to respond to the immediate need of Belize’s sugar and energy supply.
We also believe that a crucial role we can play is to support the pandemic surveillance capabilities with the donation of $100,000.00 for immediate input into the health care system. This assistance is to strengthen the in-country capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to existing and emerging infectious disease threats and more specifically, the health security programs at the Western Regional Hospital.

Our responsibility as a growing company, a large-scale employer and a good corporate citizen is a critical one. This commitment builds on our motto to improve Sugar → Energy → Development → Community.
We encourage those who can lend support to this issue please do so!
