Belize Coast Guard in San Pedro receives donation

The Belize Coast Guard in San Pedro Town was the recipient of a weed cutter, two machetes, a rake, and a wheelbarrow courtesy of a group of island residents- Gary Greif, Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel, and Richard Cordova.

Greif presented the donation on Monday, March 15th, onboard a coast guard vessel.  The generous donation made in a joint effort with Cordova and Gabourel, who recently ran for councillors in the recent municipal elections, is deemed non-political.

Greif, a former politician, made it clear that the donation has nothing to do with politics. He said that as community members, people should always take advantage of the opportunity to give back. Greif, along with Cordova and Gabourel, saw the chance to assist the coast guard in maintaining their facility on the island and made the donation.

A representative of the coast guard on the island shared with The Sun that they welcomed the donation, which will assist with their compound’s maintenance and sanitation. The Belize Coast Guard thanked the donors and said it continues to work hand in hand with the island community to guarantee safety in the waters surrounding the island.
