Jazelie ‘Jaz’ Azueta hosts Women Self Defense classes

Share

In honor of Women’s Month, on Saturday, March 27th, several ladies in San Pedro Town participated in a Women’s Self-Defence program organized by islander Jazelie ‘Jaz’ Azueta. The event included collaboration from Martin Dawson of Dawson’s Pit Fighters, athlete and islander Kent ‘Bob’ Gabourel, and Captain Shark’s Belize.
The event included two different sessions. The first one started at 3 PM followed by a 4:30 PM session. According to Azueta, the event was a success, and all participants had a good time. Participants learned basic but beneficial techniques when it comes to self-defense. The most significant benefit is that women can learn how to defend themselves physically. The training provided tips and tricks to handle emergency and difficult situations. Whenever women face any physical harassment, the course outlined the necessary steps to fight against these situations. The self-defense lessons are intended to help women mentally and physically as well.

The opportunity to participate in these self-defense lessons was by registration and followed all COVID-19 established protocols. This resulted in a limited amount of persons allowed to participate. To all those who wanted to participate but could not, Azueta hopes to host another one in the future.
Azueta wishes every lady a happy Women’s Month and reminds them how worthy, beautiful, and awesome they are. She thanked everyone who assisted and helped, particularly Captain Shark’s Belize, who donated pepper spray to the participants.
