On Saturday, May 8th, San Pedrana Elena Ayuso was selected as Mother of the Year during the San Pedro Town Council’s (SPTC) special edition of Women in Business Expo at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex. The event organized by the SPTC honored the island mums and once again highlighted entrepreneurial women.

The expo opened at 4PM where people were screened (sanitized and temperature read) before entering the sporting complex. Booths hosted by businesswomen featured clothing, household items, arts, souvenirs, pastries, and food. Many people took advantage of the deals offered at a massage booth, while others took pictures at a photography stall. Mayor Gualberto ‘Wally’ Nuñez distributed certificates of appreciation to all the businesses that participated.

Many lucky mothers walked away with fabulous prizes, and there was live entertainment by the San Pedro Dance Academy, the Constellation Band, and Caribbean Kings.

As the event ended, the Mother of the Year was announced. The selection was made among mums ages 60+, and the special title went to Mrs. Elena Ayuso. She was escorted to the stage, where she received a sash and tiara from Miss San Pedro Litzy Castillo.

Despite the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the special evening was deemed a success. The SPTC thanks everyone who contributed, all the volunteers, sponsors, and mothers who attended the event.
