The long-awaited Miss San Pedro Pageant is back and will take place virtually on Thursday, September 9th, at Mahogany Bay Village. On Wednesday, August 11th, the pageant committee revealed the six delegates via a virtual live show vying for the crown and becoming the island’s next beauty ambassador.

This year’s contestants and sponsors are Emma’z Lopez (Alaia), Grace Brown (Ramon’s Village), Karissa Vasquez (Captain Shark’s Belize), SierraSky Ashton (Castillo’s Hardware), Johanna Mas (Caribeña Enterprises), and Herla Ortiz Tun (San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi).

The ceremony took place at Ramon’s Village Resort shortly after 6:30PM and was hosted by reigning Miss San Pedro 2019-2020 Litzi Castillo and well-known islander Gerry Badillo. They acknowledged the sponsors and then welcomed on stage Mayor Gualberto ‘Wally’ Nuñez for his remarks. He highlighted the theme ‘being resilient’ as the country, and the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic. He commended the sponsors and congratulated the Miss San Pedro candidates. “These are unprecedented times. To you, too, I will give thanks for being resilient. You have chosen to grace us with your smiles; that is courageous and priceless looking on the bright side when things are bad,” he said.

Councillor Adaly Ayuso heading the Miss San Pedro Committee, thanked everyone for making this year’s pageant possible. She acknowledged the sponsors and committed to providing a safe environment to celebrate the island’s traditional pageant.

The six contestants were then revealed as they walked to the stage and introduced themselves. All ladies expressed their joy in being part of the pageant, share something about them and their future aspirations. The sponsors then picked their contestant’s names from a jar. Afterward, each contestant was officially presented with their sash.
