Grand Baymen Gardens Resort unveils new Fleet Building

Share

On Tuesday, January 17th, the Best Western Grand Baymen Gardens Resort officially introduced their latest addition to their compound with the grand opening of their new building called the Fleet.
The Fleet building has a pair of two-bedroom apartments and ten studio units. The anticipated structure, which now is part of the off-beach residence, boasts some of the best views of San Pedro Town and the lagoon side. The Fleet building is amid lush gardens, a spectacular swimming pool, a restaurant, a tennis and pickleball court, and a fully equipped gymnasium.
At the unveiling ceremonies on the Fleet rooftop, those involved in realizing the ambitious project shared their remarks after reaching such a milestone. Pastor Ian Zaldivar of the Living Word Church blessed the event.
Michael Cobb of ECI Development, behind the project, shared that they have continuously worked on similar projects facing many challenges over the years. “This is an enjoyable time because we can deliver a beautiful home for some folks who moved to the island,” said Cobb. “This is what we do; we help to create communities and places for people to call home.” Cobb thanked everyone involved in the construction of the building.
Another person involved in the project is Caye Bank’s Chairman, Joel Nagel. He said that although the projects experienced some delays due to the COVID -19 pandemic, he feels proud to have finally inaugurated the Fleet. He says the new building adds to the resort’s affordable rooms and welcomes Belizean and foreign tourists.
General Manager Lorena Vasquez said the Fleet building is ready to provide excellent service. She added that the building is an excellent investment for those looking to retire in Belize. As an apartment/condo owner, there is the option to live in the unit or have it in the rental pool. A Ministry of Tourism representative also lauded the project and expressed the ministry’s support and commitment towards such projects, highlighting the benefit of having branded hotels come to Belize as they enjoy good tourism markets. Adding the Fleet to the Grand Baymen Gardens is considered a great compliment to Belize’s tourism product.

Attending the event were also property owners Michael and Carolyn Russo. They acquired a condo unit in the newly built building and expressed their happiness to be living in Belize. Michael shared that the country’s Caribbean weather, the team’s professionalism at the resort, and the fact that Belize is an English-speaking country, were some of the reasons that encouraged them to move to the island. The Russos are more than happy to call la Isla Bonita their new home.

The event ended with the ribbon cutting, officially opening the Fleet building. The guests in attendance were then invited to mingle and enjoy some refreshments.
