SP BTIA hosts Pickleball Tournament Fund Raiser

Share

The Belize Tourism Industry Association San Pedro Chapter (SP BTIA) held a St. Patrick’s Day Pickleball Tournament on Friday, March 17th, to raise funds for their Tourism Information Center (TIC). The event was held at Mata Rocks Resort, where a handful of pickleball fans and novices displayed their enthusiasm on the court. The competition was more about having a good time, and the players literally competed for pickles.

Mata Rocks guests Ariel and Hannah couldn’t resist the fun and, after a good game, took home the pickle award. All participants and spectators enjoyed the afternoon.

The SP BTIA officially opened the doors of its Tourism Information Center in May 2022. The center, located on Almond Street next to the Artisan Market and across from the Saca Chispas Field, provides local and national tourism information to guests visiting the island. Open Monday through Saturday, 9AM-4:30PM, tourists often ask about the House of Culture (which remains closed) and enquire about directions, maps, and land and water activities, among other questions. Funded in part by the National Belize Tourism Industry Association, staff, and operating expenses to provide this important service are supplemented by fundraising dollars.

The SP BTIA thanks Mata Rocks Resort for hosting the event and the businesses who generously sponsored it, Azul Management, The Palms Oceanfront Suites, Sandbar Beachfront Hostel, the San Pedro Town Council, the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, Sapphire Beach, and Castillo’s Hardware.
