Belize Port Authority releases approved fares for water taxis

The Belize Port Authority (BPA) issued the most recent approved fares for water taxis highlighting that it has not authorized an increase in passenger fares. The BPA noted that any increase is unlawful and would not be tolerated. They ask commuters to report any attempt by a water taxi company to charge more than the approved fares by calling the telephone number 222-5665 or email to [email protected].
The approved fares between the Cayes and the mainland, Belize City, and Corozal Town are as follows. Passengers on Caribbean Sprinter Company Co Ltd (formerly Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association and Ocean Ferry) will pay $33 one-way from Belize City-Caye Caulker and Caye Caulker to San Pedro Town. Kids ages 3-10 will pay $27. While from Belize City to San Pedro, one-way is $43. Children will pay $37. For tourists, adults will be charged $59 one-way from Belize City to Caye Caulker and from Caye Caulker to San Pedro. Tourist children pay $48. The rate for adult tourists one-way from Belize City to San Pedro is $69, and for kids, $48.
San Pedro Belize Express noted fares for adults only regarding Belizean passengers. Travelers heading to Caye Caulker one-way from Belize City or San Pedro will pay $33. One-way from Belize City to San Pedro is $43. San Pedro Belize Express also travels to Caye Chapel. The maximum fare for the one-way ticket from Caye Caulker to Caye Chapel is $31. The one-way fare from San Pedro to Chetumal, Mexico, is $147, and from Caye Caulker is $159. The one-way boat ticket from Belize City to Caye Caulker for adult tourists is $45 and $29 for children. The one-way fare for adult tourists traveling from Belize City to San Pedro is $65 and $33 for children.
Another water taxi company traveling to Chetumal, Mexico, is San Pedro Water Jets International. The fare from San Pedro one-way is $148, and to Caye Caulker is $159. From Caye Caulker to San Pedro, $37.
Those traveling to Sarteneja and Corozal Town from San Pedro with Belize Sea Shuttle Express should pay a one-way fare from San Pedro to Sarteneja, $68, and $71 to Corozal. Children ages 4-8 will pay $52. San Pedro to Caye Caulker fees is $33 and $27 for children. Caye Caulker to Sarteneja one-way is $81, and to Corozal, $94; the fare for children is $77.
Meanwhile, tourists (adults) pay $50 one-way from Corozal to Sarteneja and $40 for children. San Pedro to Corozal, the one-way fare is $97 and $77 for children. From Corozal to Caye Caulker, tourists pay $123 one-way and $103 for children. Sarteneja to San Pedro one-way is $97 and $77 for children. Sarteneja to Caye Caulker is $123 and $103 for children. Any adult tourists traveling from San Pedro to Caye will pay $50 one-way, and children are charged $40.
The other company offering services between San Pedro and Sarteneja, and Corozal is Thunderbolt Water Taxi. The approved fare for local and tourist adults for one-way San Pedro to Corozal is $61. Local children will pay $30 and tourists $32. Corozal to Sarteneja for locals and tourists is $30 and $16 for children. The one-way from Sarteneja to San Pedro is $57 and $58 for tourists. The rate for local children is $29 and $30 for tourists.
