The kitchen at Hope Haven Orphanage and Safe Home for Children in San Pedro Town has been upgraded with the support of the Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye and The Truck Stop. This renovation has transformed the kitchen into a more functional and comfortable space for meal preparation and daily activities. The next project will focus on renovating the dining area adjacent to the kitchen to further enhance the experience for the children living at Hope Haven.
Hope Haven’s management expresses gratitude for the assistance received. The much-needed renovations have resulted in a more functional stove, improved lighting, a better venting system, and additional storage space for appliances such as the microwave. Executive Director Kristina Romero thanked the island’s Rotary Club for their support. “Rotary has played an instrumental role in supporting Hope Haven Belize through much-needed renovations that have significantly enhanced the living environment for the children,” she said. Romero emphasized that upgrading the kitchen is a critical need that falls outside of Hope Haven’s annual operating budget. “The updated kitchen is a welcome improvement,” Romero stated. “The children are thrilled with their new kitchen and deeply appreciate Rotary’s continued commitment to their well-being and happiness.”
The Rotary Club of Ambergris Caye is pleased to support and participate in this community project. They expressed their gratitude to the Truck Stop for their partnership in the ongoing efforts to improve the facilities at Hope Haven.
In July this year, the Rotary Club collaborated with the Truck Stop to renovate the orphanage’s playroom. The renovation included freshly painted walls, new artwork and graphics, shelves, benches, toys, books, and a chalkboard. According to Romero, the children loved the newly improved space, which inspired them to have fun and explore their imaginations.
Since its establishment in November 2017, Hope Haven has been dedicated to serving the community by providing a safe home for orphaned, abused, or neglected children. Currently, the non-profit organization cares for 13 children and offers them a secure place to call home.
Hope Haven is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for these children. The organization relies primarily on donations for daily operations and welcomes new donors. Its facilities are located on Lion Street, adjacent to John Greif II Municipal Airport in downtown San Pedro.
