The San Pedro Lions Club organized the annual Christmas dinner for the senior citizens of San Pedro Town on Thursday, December 19th. The invited guests were warmly welcomed by fellow Lions and Leos and treated to a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The island’s senior residents also enjoyed drinks and an evening of entertainment featuring the popular island band Rompe Raja. The club was busy the following day, sharing the Christmas spirit with their traditional annual caroling.
The event started with dinner while Rompe Raja serenaded the gathering. Lions members served food and drinks to their tables. After dinner, Lion Vice-President Rosalyn Tzib addressed the crowd before the distribution of presents. Tzib acknowledged the senior citizens present and wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. “We always look forward to this event and appreciate all your contributions to our community,” Tzib told the seniors.
Presents were then distributed to the invited senior citizens. The Leos and some of the Lion Members greeted the guests, who graciously accepted their gifts. After dinner and the distribution of presents, everyone was invited to the dance floor, where they enjoyed an evening of dancing to classic cumbia hits.
Christmas Caroling
The following day, on Friday, the San Pedro Lions Club held its annual Christmas Caroling event. This festive celebration included a parade through downtown San Pedro and the San Pedrito subdivision, where treats such as candies and fruits were distributed along the route. President Nesher Acosta briefly addressed all participants, explaining the route before they set off for San Pedrito. This year, the club was joined by several tourists who volunteered for this traditional Christmas activity.
Rompe Raja performed classic Christmas carols with the band, and the Lions and Leos handed out candies and apples to children and adults. Many families came out of their homes to enjoy the festivities, expressing gratitude to the club members for sharing the season’s spirit. They even danced and sang along with Rompe Raja, the top band.
Both activities were deemed successful this year. The San Pedro Lions Club thanks everyone for their continued support of these annual events and the Leos and new club members who participated in them this year.
