On Sunday, August 9th, Quickstop Finance Center (Quickstop) staff volunteered at Holy Cross Anglican School, carrying out several improvement projects from 8AM to 4PM. The activity formed part of the company’s corporate community outreach initiative. With assistance from school faculty, the Quickstop team painted picket fences and structural beams and decorated chalkboards in the infant division.
The effort was organized as part of Quickstop’s mandatory eight-hour community service initiative. Employees submit a proposal and budget, obtain approval, and then carry out the selected project. Manager Nerissa Tuyul, said the company chose Holy Cross after consulting with the principal and identifying small projects that could be completed within the program’s budget. Sunday’s work focused on painting exterior pickets and beams and decorating chalkboards in classrooms for the school’s youngest students.
Quickstop has carried out similar projects in previous years, with Tuyul noting that the company routinely selects local schools for its outreach efforts. Staff met with the school’s leadership to prioritize tasks before teams were assigned to complete the agreed scope of work. The improvements combined routine maintenance with decorative touches to refresh the school environment ahead of the new school year.
Principal Elsy Torres praised the volunteers’ contribution. “We truly value and appreciate the Quickstop volunteer team for choosing Holy Cross Anglican School as the place to give back through their community service. Their willingness to invest their time, energy, and talents in our school means a great deal to our entire community.”
Torres also emphasized the broader value of volunteering at schools. “At Holy Cross, we warmly welcome every volunteer who wants to make a positive difference. We believe schools are among the most meaningful places to give back because the impact reaches far beyond the day of service. When you invest in a school, you are investing in our children, our teachers, our families, and ultimately, the future of our community.”
Tuyul described Quickstop’s volunteer process as structured, beginning with the development of a project proposal, followed by approval and budget allocation. The company then implements projects selected based on their impact and feasibility. She noted that Quickstop has supported other schools in previous years and intentionally selected projects at Holy Cross that could be completed within a single day.
The improvements have refreshed the school’s exterior and classroom spaces while demonstrating the value of corporate involvement in the community. Torres said the benefits extend beyond the physical improvements. “The impact is multiplied when people come together with a heart to serve. We are grateful to the Quickstop team for recognizing the value of supporting our teachers and students and for being part of our school community. Their generosity reminds us that every act of service, no matter how big or small, can make a lasting difference.”
Tuyul said Quickstop plans to continue carrying out similar one-day projects at other schools as part of its ongoing community outreach efforts.
