San Pedro Lions serve 300 meals to essential workers for National Service Day

The San Pedro Lions Club prepared and donated 300 plates of food and soft drinks to essential workers across San Pedro on September 18th to mark National Service Day. The meals were distributed to public servants from several departments that provide essential services to the island community.
National Service Day honors community service and volunteerism in the legacy of Belize’s first Prime Minister and National Hero, the late Right Honorable George Cadle Price. The observance was established after Price’s passing on September 19th, 2011. Each year, Belizeans, organizations, and public institutions are encouraged to honor his legacy through acts of service that benefit their communities.
Members of the San Pedro Lions Club prepared the meals at the Lions Den on the morning of September 18th before delivering them to essential workers across the island. Recipients included personnel from the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, Immigration Department, Customs and Excise Department, Post Office, Traffic Department, and Health Department.
The initiative recognized the daily contributions of public servants and essential workers who provide services ranging from public safety and healthcare to transportation, infrastructure, and other important community operations.
By distributing meals, the Lions Club offered a gesture of appreciation to those who continued carrying out their duties throughout the day. The club thanked the workers for their dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving San Pedro.
The activity also reflected the San Pedro Lions Club’s longstanding commitment to community service and the spirit of National Service Day by giving back to those who serve the island community every day.
