San Pedro Team Hunter B Among Top Finishers at Honduras Billfish Open
Team Hunter B, captained by Josh Marin, represented San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, and Belize well at the XIV Honduras International Billfish Open, held from March 5th to 7th in Omoa, Honduras. The team, along with other Belizean competitors, was recognized for its outstanding performance in the annual fishing tournament.

Belize Reflects on the Legacy of National Heroes Price and Goldson
On March 9th, Belize observed National Heroes and Benefactors Day. The National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) highlighted the country’s two national heroes, the Right Honorable George Price and the Honorable Philip Goldson.

Team RE/MAX continues to lead the tournament standings after another round of intense matches. The games, held at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field), featured four teams that excited the many fans who came out to support their favorite sides.

Lions from across Belize gather for 47th Zone 59 Convention
The 47th Annual Lions Zone 59 Convention brought Lions, Leos, and Cubs together from March 6th to 8th at the Grand Resort and Residences in Belize City. Hosted by the Sub Umbra Floreo Lions Club, the event united members from across Belize under the theme “Lions Serving with Purpose: Bridging Cultures, Empowering Communities and Inspiring Generations.” Key activities included elections, awards, cultural displays, a parade, and the revival of the Miss Lions Belize Queen pageant on March 7th.

Blood drive boosts emergency supply on Ambergris Caye
The San Pedro Community Blood Donors Group hosted a blood drive on Saturday, March 7th, at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Polyclinic II in San Pedro Town. The event ran from 9AM to 3PM, attracting residents who came out to donate and support the island’s blood supply. By the end of the drive, close to 25 pints of blood had been collected.

Two San Pedro officers complete national drill training program
Two San Pedro police officers, Hubert Joseph, attached to the Gang Intelligence Unit, and Jarrel Martinez with the island’s sub-formation, completed a Non-Commissioned Officer Drill Course on Wednesday, March 4th. The three-week course brought together participants from several police formations across the country, as well as members from the Belize Defence Force Volunteer Battalion and the Belize Coast Guard.

Holy Cross Anglican School Offering its 3rd SPICE Culinary Program Starting May 5
After two successful culinary classes and 17 graduates, Holy Cross Anglican School is excited to announce that it will be starting the third SPICE (San Pedro Institute of Culinary Education) course on May 5, 2026 with 30 classes one night per week through December, culminating in a celebratory graduation dinner!

SAGA’s First Spay and Neuter Campaign of 2026 Sterilizes Over 100 Animals
The San Pedro SAGA Humane Society wrapped up a week-long spay-and-neuter campaign from February 20th to 26th in San Pedro Town. Led by SAGA President Dr. Heather, along with visiting Canadian veterinarian Dr. Adriana and two Canadian veterinary technicians, the initiative offered free spay and neuter surgeries as well as microchipping services. By the end of the campaign, the team carried out over 104 surgeries and microchipped the animals treated, continuing SAGA’s efforts to curb pet overpopulation on the island.
