Dear Editor,

Saga Humane Society would like to give our warmest holiday Thank You to all our supporters and sponsors who helped in the First Grand Champion Cook Off become a great success. Central Park was the setting for all the festivities. We were honored to have Miss Belize, Idolly Saldivar as a special guest to help launch the Paws & Princesses 2012 calendar, benefiting Saga Shelter Animals.

There were many great dishes entered by some of the island’s best cooks, you are all winners to us. After the votes were counted the title of the Grand Champion 2011 was Jan Brown with her Homemade Carrot Cake; she took home a brand new Kindle. Placing second was Letty Hernandez with her Three Cheese Lobster Crepes with bacon sauce (winning an iPod Nano with accessories) and third was Anna of Mathieu’s Delicatessen with her Apple Strudel (winning an iPod Shuffle with speakers). The other talented cooks were Gunter of Mathieu’s Delicatessen, Susanna Eiley, Wahoo’s Lounge, Ramon’s Village, Laura Sutton, Sharon Metcalfe, Noemi Castro and Lori Purdy.
