Hol Chan investigating fish kill on lagoon side of San Pedro
Another mass fish death was observed on the lagoon side of Ambergris Caye, by the San Juan/Boca del Rio area, and Hol Chan is investigating the cause, suspecting Sargassum and possibly high nitrate levels in the water.

Twin-Towns Partner with Forest Department to Begin Urban Green-Space Initiative
During the Biodiversity Celebrations ceremony on May 31st, 2018 in the twin-towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, the Mayor, His Lordship Earl Trapp, signed the partnership agreement with the Forest Department to build greener spaces within the municipality by 2020.

Belize Barrier Reef System awaits removal from World Heritage Site in-danger list
A draft decision has been published on the World Heritage Center’s (WHC) website supporting the notion to remove the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System (BBRRS) from the in danger list. The final decision will be made at the WHC's 42nd annual meeting to take place June 24th - July 4th.
