WUHS Hosts Prestigious White Coat Ceremony

Washington University of Health and Science held its prestigious White Coat Ceremony on Sunday April 19, 2O15. This unique event took place at “Jerries Hall” located on Campus.
Attending the Ceremony were the Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Culture Hon. Manuel Heredia and wife; the Mayor of San Pedro Mr. Daniel Guerrero and wife; Dr. Javier Zuniga M.D. and professor of Medicine and Representative of the Ministry of Health; Mr. Pedro Salazar, Manager of Caribena Enterprises Ltd. and wife; Mrs. Conchita Flota, Vice-Principal of San Pedro High School and husband; Mrs. Flor Nunez, Manager of Belize Bank International; other invited guests; faculty, staff, parents and students.WUHS White Coat Doctor Ceremony-1
The Prestigious “White Coat Ceremony” initiated at 11:2Oam by Miss Peggy Allen, Vice-President of the University giving the Welcome Address and followed by the Singing of both the Belizean National Anthem as well as the US National Anthem. The members of the Student Government Association then individually addressed the audience after which the Guest Speaker Dr. Timothy Conwell M.D. Professor of Medicine and Author gave his address.
This was followed with the address of non-other than the President/CEO of the University Dr. Malik Soudah M.D. who directed his impressive address to students, parents, faculty, staff and invited guests. This was immediately followed by the introduction of the WUHS Medical Students presented by Miss Peggy Allen and continued by the “Coating of the Students” officiated by Dr. Renae Berg M.D. and Dr. Salam Abdo M.D. both professors of medicine.WUHS White Coat Doctor Ceremony-3
Last but not least was the Reading of the “Oath of Hippocrates” by the Medical Students of WUHS. The Ceremony came to an end at the Campus but was followed by a delicious and entertaining luncheon catered at The Caprice Bar & Grill located at the Holiday Hotel where the President, Vice-President of WUHS, Minister Heredia and wife, Mayor Guerrero and wife, invited guests, staff, faculty, parents and students participated.
