The opening of the lobster season is just around the corner, and with it comes the annual San Pedro Lobster Fest Extravaganza. Activities begin on Thursday, June 15th, and will culminate with a grand block party on Saturday, June 24th at Central Park. With just a few days left before the festivities, organizers are busy at work, making final touches for this year’s much anticipated 2017 Lobster Fest.
One of the most popular activities is the Lobster Crawl, in which crawlers are invited to visit the participating establishments and get their Lobster Fest Passport stamped. As usual, each stamp will earn you a chance to win the grand raffle prize consisting of the ultimate vacation package for two to the 2018 Lobster Fest. Passports can be obtained at the participating establishments.
This year’s Lobster Crawl will open at the El Divino Restaurant at Banana Beach Resort on Thursday, June 15th at 3PM with the live performance of Cuban group Morena Son. The celebration will continue on Friday, June 16th during the day at Wahoo’s Lounge, while Pirate’s Treasure Restaurant and Bar will host the evening. The party continues on Saturday, June 17th at Amber Beach Bar during the day and at Estel’s Dine by the Sea Restaurant during the night. On Sunday, June 18th, the Lobster Crawl will be at Pirate’s Not-So-Secret Beach during the day, while at night, the crawl continues at The Dive Bar. On Monday, June 19th everyone is invited to Mesa Café during the day and Crazy Canucks at night. Tuesday, June 20th the day activities will take place at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and at Ramon’s Village Pineapple Restaurant during the night. The Belize Chocolate Boutique will be hosting the crawl during the day on Wednesday, June 21st, while the night party will take place at Pedro’s Inn. On Thursday, June 22nd, the activities will have a slight change and will be taking place aboard the Sea’s D Day boat during the day. Then at night the fun will be happening at Rain Restaurant and Rooftop Terrace. Palapa Bar will host the all day party on Friday, June 23rd, while the Truck Stop will take over at night. The festival will then end with a huge block party at the Central Park on Saturday, June 24th.
The block party starts at 6PM, and will feature booths providing a variety of lobster dishes and refreshing cocktails throughout the evening. There will also be musical entertainment from the Pannerifix Steel Band, among other local artists.
The San Pedro Lobster Festival Committee would like to thank everyone who has made this event possible. A HUGE thanks to the main organizers and sponsors: The San Pedro Business Association, Belize Tourism Board, The San Pedro Town Council, and Belikin Beer.
Be sure to mark your calendars, this is an event you really don’t want to miss!
