Saga’s Annual Benefit Concert 2025: Another Hit!
San Pedro residents and visitors gathered at the Palapa Bar and Grill on Thursday, February 6th, to celebrate the birthday of award-winning country singer-songwriter Kelly McGuire. The event featured a concert by McGuire to raise funds for the San Pedro Saga Humane Society, complete with raffles, live auctions, and lively music for dancing.

San Pedro welcomes 2025 with a big celebration on the beach
Residents and visitors of the island gathered at the central park in downtown San Pedro to bid farewell to 2024 and welcome the new year. The New Year’s festivities occurred on Tuesday, December 31st, and included an extravagant celebration organized by the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC). The event featured live performances, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display by the beach.

The Island Academy hosts another spectacular Christmas pageant
On Wednesday, December 11th, The Island Academy (TIA) held its 29th Annual Christmas Pageant, delighting parents, friends, and special guests with another spectacular show. The traditional holiday event featured performances from junior and senior students, including plays and Christmas carols.

San Pedro Dance Academy presents a Feliz Belize Navidad
In the spirit of Christmas, the San Pedro Dance Academy (SPDA) hosted its annual Christmas Recital on Sunday, December 15th. “Feliz Belize Navidad” brought together family and friends at the San Pedro Lions Den to witness the performances of young dancers who had been practicing their routines for months.

Island celebrations for Garifuna Settlement Day dampened by Tropical Storm Sara
This year, Tropical Storm Sara put a damper on Garifuna Settlement Day activities on the island, leading to the cancellation of the main celebrations. Although there were drumming events at establishments operated by the Garifuna community, traditional events such as parades, large concerts, and the Yurumein (the re-enactment of the arrival of the Garifuna people in Belize) were notably absent. Despite this, the public and bank holiday allowed islanders to enjoy traditional Garifuna dishes, including the popular Hudut.

The biggest Halloween bash in San Pedro features some of the scariest costumes
The weather forecast predicting rain on Saturday, October 26th, did not dampen the creativity and enthusiasm at the annual Halloween celebration in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. Held at La San Pedrana Restaurant inside the Holiday Hotel, this event is considered the country's largest celebration of its kind. As the night ended, several revelers went home with fabulous prizes after impressing the judges in the costume competition.

San Pedro celebrates Belize’s 43rd Independence Day in grand style
Belizeans in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, once again showed their patriotism and love for the country as they celebrated Belize’s 43rd independence anniversary. The festivities began on the evening of Friday, September 20th, with the flag-raising ceremony, culminating with the Independence Day Parade on the 21st, highlighting all things Belizean and closing the patriotic celebration across the country. Under the theme ‘A Nation Proud and Free: Belize @ 43!’, Belizeans have been observing the September celebrations, from the flag-raising at the start of the month to the Battle of St. George’s Caye Day and the annual Carnival Road March in Belize City, among other patriotic events.

San Pedro celebrates the independence of Central American countries and Mexico
The Noche Centro Americana celebration, a vibrant display of cultural diversity, took place on Saturday, September 14th, at the Honorable Louis Sylvester Sporting Arena. This annual event features a rich tapestry of culinary delights, cultural presentations, and entertainment in honor of the Independence Day celebrations of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
