Sea Cucumber Season Closure

The Belize Fisheries Department hereby informs all fishers and the public that in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 67 of 2009 under the Fisheries Act Chapter 210 Revised Edition 2003 of the Subsidiary Laws of Belize, the Sea Cucumber fishery will be declared closed effective July 1, 2020.

Sea Cucumber
Regulation 10 of SI 67 of 2009 reads as follows: No person shall fish for, or harvest, at any time in the waters of Belize, or buy, sell, have in possession, export or attempt to export any sea cucumber after June 30th, 2020.
Any person found in possession of sea cucumber after July 1st will be charged and prosecuted in a court of law in accordance with the Fisheries Regulations. The assistance of the fishing community and the public is greatly appreciated in the sustainable use and conservation of this important fishery resource.
