Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association introduces mobile app

Share

On Wednesday, November 6th, the Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association (TASA) launched its mobile app during an event in Belize City. The app is designed to enhance visitors’ sustainable tourism experience and offers a comprehensive and interactive guide that integrates essential information and features to enrich users’ experiences at Turneffe. The app is available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play for Android devices.

The launch of the TASA app marks a milestone as it is the first-ever destination app for a marine protected area in Belize. According to TASA, the app features a home screen as a hub for easy navigation and links key sections showcasing signature experiences. These experiences include renowned dive sites, nature trails, snorkeling routes at Calabash Caye, and the captivating Wit Wreck Dive. Additionally, there is a unique emphasis on citizen science initiatives.
The ‘About’ section is a comprehensive research hub, providing visitors with general information about Turneffe Atoll and its marine species and practical links. The app includes a feature called ‘Citizen Scientist,’ which allows visitors to actively participate in the conservation of Turneffe Atoll by submitting verified data. The ‘Account’ profile page also enables users to track their experiences, including their contributions to citizen science, site visits, and species encounters. The app also incorporates a badge system that rewards users for exploring and contributing to conserving the marine reserve.
TASA invites everyone to download the app and join a responsible travel community that supports the sustainability of the Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve. As part of this growing conservation community, users will play a vital role in helping TASA fill gaps in its scientific monitoring efforts. By using the app, you can actively engage by uploading photos and logging spatial information on important wildlife species, directly contributing to ongoing monitoring and conservation projects.
In keeping with TASA’s “Discover, Learn, Embrace” philosophy, the app now offers a unique feature that allows users to book entrance tickets and hotels on the atoll easily. Planning a visit to this paradise off the coast of Belize is now straightforward and convenient, ensuring a memorable and immersive experience from beginning to end.
