Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute collaborates with the Commonwealth Marine Economies
The Belize Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute is hosting a team (3 persons) from the United Kingdom’s Commonwealth Marine Economies (CME) Programme to consult on the development of a Maritime Economy Plan for Belize on July 30th, 2019 in Belmopan and August 1st, 2019 in Belize City.

2019 Kids in Action Youth Scuba Summer Camp certifies 38 new divers
Ambergris Caye has 38 newly certified divers thanks to the annual two-week program via the Kids in Action Youth Scuba Summer Camp. Organized by the San Pedro Tour Operators Association (SPTOA) in collaboration with the San Pedro Tourist Guide Association (SPTGA), the camp aims to teach and certify children in diving so they can better appreciate the natural marine resources surrounding Ambergris Caye.

The Belize Agricultural Health Authority hereby advises the public that medflies have been detected along the Placencia Peninsula. Medflies are introduced into Belize when people intentionally or unintentionally illegally bring fruits and vegetables that are host to this pest.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Smith College Education host education and outreach workshop in San Pedro Town
20 years of collaboration between Hol Chan Marine Reserve (HCMR) and Smith College’s Coral Reef Ed-Ventures Summer Program from Northampton, Massachusetts USA were commemorated with an education and outreach workshop for island stakeholders on Thursday, June 27th. Held at the Grand Caribe conference room north of San Pedro Town, the workshop saw the attendance of the educators from Smith College, past Coral Reef Ed-Ventures mentors, staff of HCMR and invited guests.
