SPTC undergoes reshuffling

Share

A reshuffling of portfolios took place at The San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) on Tuesday, November 8th. The different shifts in duties mainly apply to new councillors who have been in office for less than two terms. These are the final changes made until the next Town Council elections in 2018.43-sp-town-council-slate
According to Mayor Daniel Guerrero, the changes are in order for his councillors to get a feel of all the different portfolios. “We swapped certain portfolios between four of our councillors who are new to the Board, so they are more flexible with the duties,” said Guerrero.
Deputy Mayor Gary Greif will no longer be in charge of Waste Management and Sanitation, as he now heads the Transport portfolio. Councillor Flora Ancona was given additional duties. She will now be also in charge of Public events and Culture and Leisure. Councillor Ruben Gonzalez will now be in charge of Waste Management and Sanitation, while Councillor Hector Alamilla was given the National Emergency Management Organization and the NGOs portfolios.
Councillors Gabriel Nuñez, and Severo Guerrero, along with Mayor Guerrero, did not experience any major changes in their duties. In the case of Councillor Nuñez, his portfolios were reduced to three after giving up Housing and Planning and Education to Councillor Severo. Mayor Guerrero’s portfolio remains the same as he continues to be in charge of Finance, Customer Service, Foreign Relations, Communications and Consultations Services and Ambergris Caye Master Plan.
