On February 9, 2021, the Ministry of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation held a virtual familiarization meeting with the Executive Director of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE).
Ms. Kennedy Carrillo, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of the Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, and Dr. Leroy Almendarez, Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, along with representatives from both parties, discussed promising opportunities for collaboration to contribute significantly to the development and implementation of the Blue Economy road map for Belize.
Discussions included the importance of promoting economic development and investments through the responsible use of Belize’s rich oceanic resources. BELTRAIDE has committed to working with the new and innovative Ministry in its inception phase. There will be a focus on the promotion of the Blue Economy brand to ensure awareness and understanding of the great potential of this blue ocean model for Belize.
The meeting concluded with a commitment by both parties to continue to engage in discussion and work closely in a manner that is innovative and dynamic to usher in greater and much-needed development opportunities for Belize.
