On April 12, 2021, Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, and Kennedy Carrillo, CEO in the Ministry, met with H.E. David K.C. Chien, the newly appointed ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize.
The group engaged in cordial discussions on various matters including opportunities for collaboration in areas such as deep-sea fishing and expansion of Belize’s fishing industry, value-added food processing, and greater efforts in the preservation of Belize’s marine and coastal resources.
Minister Perez shared the accomplishments of the Blue Economy portfolio thus far and the process of strategic planning taking place simultaneously for Blue Economy and Civil Aviation.
Ambassador Chien expressed his country’s continuous commitment to maintaining an excellent relationship with the country and people of Belize. It is expected that this will be the first of many more meetings between the Ministry and the Embassy of Taiwan.
