As communities in Belize struggled with the COVID-19 public health crisis, many persons living with diabetes were negatively affected and their health condition worsened as a result of the pandemic.
The Government of the State of Israel, through its diplomatic missions and consulates around the world, aims to carry out its humanitarian responsibilities wherever and whenever action is required. In honour of the 73rd anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel, through the Honorary Consul of Israel to Belize, Ms. Rose Wischenka, a donation of care packages for people living with diabetes was made to help improve their quality of life and increase public awareness to their unique challenges during the pandemic.
During an official handing over ceremony at the The Diabetes Association on May 6th, 2021 the Honorary Consul of Israel to Belize, stated: “Im making a donation of care packages for people living with diabetes that will include food items and diabetes supplies such: syringes, glucose monitors and strips, lancets, facemasks, hand sanitizer other PPE to assist in COVID-19 preparedness. We are also donating a specific amount to sponsor radio and TV ads aimed at increasing awareness with regard to diabetes”.
She further relayed the ongoing commitment of the State of Israel to the people of Belize during these challenging times
This activity is just another manifestation of the close bilateral relations between Israel and Belize. Through the Israeli Embassy in Mexico, accredited to Belize, the two nations have developed close bilateral relations and have collaborated on diverse matters in the recent times.
