Belizeans Participate in Agriculture Training Program in Colombia
Thirty Belizeans are in Colombia for a 90-day training course titled "Agricultural Labor Technician" from April 25 to July 18, 2022. The course is a part of the project, Agricultural Technical Work Training for Rural Leaders, sponsored by the Presidential Agency for International Cooperation of Colombia (APC Colombia) in compliance with its mission as a coordinating source of international cooperation.

Government of Belize Signs First-Ever Grievance Procedure Manual
On February 22, 2022, Mr. Rolando Zetina, CEO in the Ministry of the Public Service, Constitutional and Political Reform, and Religious Affairs; Mrs. Sharon Frazer, President of the Association of Public Service Senior Managers; and Mr. Dean Flowers, President of the Public Service of Belize, signed the first-ever Grievance Procedure Manual.

High-Level Delegation Meets with Multilateral Development Banks, U.S. Government Agencies and Canadian Government Officials
Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, led a high-level delegation of Belizean officials to Washington, D.C., from April 19 to 22, 2022, for a series of meetings with senior representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The delegation also met with senior representatives from the U.S. Treasury and the Office of Comptroller of Currency and held a bilateral meeting with Hon. Harjit S. Sajjan, Canada’s Minister of International Development.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Joint Programme Launched to Support Social Protection and Local Economic Development in Belize
The Government of Belize along with the programme's Participating United Nations Organizations (PUNOs)— International Labour Organization - Caribbean Office (ILO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF Belize) and World Food Programme (WFP) —last Thursday launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Joint Programme to support in building a resilient Belize through universal, adaptive and sustainable social protection and local economic development.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between BELTRAIDE and His Highness (H.H) Sheikh Ahmed Bin Faisal Al-Qassimi of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
On Friday, April 1st, 2022, an MOU was signed at Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) between Belize, represented by BELTRAIDE Chairman, Mrs. Narda Garcia and Executive Director, Dr. Leroy Almendarez and the private office of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, represented by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, a member of the Royal Family of the Cities of Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah, UAE (the Parties). The purpose of the MOU is to provide for and promote cooperation and collaboration between the Parties in the field of Foreign Direct Investments inflow to Belize.

Elvia Vega-Samos, Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples' Affairs (MHDFIPA), received a donation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) equipment to improve the infrastructure to strengthen data collection, management, harmonization and analysis of gender-based violence (GBV) in Belize from Mr. Ian King, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP.

GOB to provide fuel subsidies for tour operators and public transportation on the mainland
To avoid an increase in the cost of services, such as tourism, the Government of Belize (GOB) and the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) will provide a capped fuel subsidy for eligible tour operators up to $1.5 million. The decision was made on April 5th during the weekly Cabinet meeting.
