Minister of Agriculture and Belize Rural North Area Representative Participate in Belize District Agriculture Field Trip
Hon. Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, and Hon. Marconi Leal, area representative of Belize Rural North, on March 31, 2021, visited selected areas of the Belize District as part of a field trip organized by the Belize District Agriculture Department. The purpose of the field trip was to learn about the farmers and crops grown in the areas as well as exchange experiences, expertise and ideas with the Ministry’s extension service and farmers from other districts.

PAHO/WHO Belize and the Government of Canada donate computer equipment to strengthen public health surveillance at Belize’s land borders
Although Belize’s land borders remain closed, it is key for the country’s points of entry to be prepared to prevent, control and provide proper public health response for when the land borders reopen. Through funding from the Government of Canada, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) donated computer equipment with supplies to strengthen national public surveillance capacity at the Western and Northern land borders of Belize.

Businesses can face up to a $5,000 fine for violating COVID-19 regulations during Easter
The Honourable Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, warned businesses, such as restaurants, that they could face a $5,000 fine for COVID-19 regulation violations during the Easter weekend. He also advised against social events at hotels and other private accommodations and instead encouraged the Easter Safety Three W’s campaign- Wash hands, Wear your mask, and Watch your distance.

Ministry of Human Development Hosts Exit Workshop for Youth Development Projects
This workshop is the culmination of the Youth and Community Transformation (YCT) Project and the Youth Resilience and Inclusive Social Empowerment (YRISE) Project that were implemented over the past six years with the aim of reducing vulnerability and enhancing the resilience of children, youth and families. The purpose of the workshop was to deliver results on the evaluation of outputs and outcomes of the projects, assess the challenges, highlight lessons learnt, and share the successes achieved through these projects.

Belize Receives First Set of COVID-19 Vaccines from the COVAX Facility
The Ministry of Health & Wellness announces the arrival of 33,600 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines to Belize. The vaccines arrived on Marcg 31st, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at the Philip Goldson International Airport. Hon. Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness, to receive the first shipment of vaccines from the COVAX Facility on behalf of the people and Government of Belize.

Cabinet Briefing for March 31, 2021
The Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño, met in regular session on March 30, 2021. • Cabinet received an update from its union consultation team on the progress of discussions with the Joint Union concerning fiscal adjustment efforts. Further consultations will continue on April 5, 2021. • Cabinet approved the protocols presented by the Ministry of Health & Wellness for the re-opening of casinos scheduled for April 15, 2021.
