Millions allegedly misappropriated at Hol Chan Marine Reserve
During a press conference on Wednesday, February 24th, chaired by Honourable Andre Perez, Minister of The Blue Economy and Civil Aviation, it was revealed that an estimated $4 million were misused at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve (HCMR). The preliminary findings are the results of an ongoing audit to investigate the misappropriation of funds during the period from January 1, 2017 to March 31, 2020, and to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise Discusses Thysanoptera Infestation with Grain Farmers
On February 23, 2021, Hon. Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, met with grain farmers at the Yo Creek Agriculture Station in the Orange Walk District to discuss black-eyed beans production which has been affected by an infestation of the pest, Thysanoptera.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero placed on administrative leave
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, the Director of Health Services (DHS) has been sent home on administrative leave via a letter from the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) accusing him of misconduct. The San Pedro Sun confirmed this incident, which comes just days after the doctor returned to work at the MOHW where he learned he no longer had an office.
