The Ministry of Constitution & Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs, and Transportation hosted the inaugural meeting of the National Bus Company Pro Temp Advisory Committee, marking a pivotal step toward modernizing Belize’s national highway bus system.

Belize made significant strides in advancing its intellectual property (IP) agenda during the Sixty-Sixth Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held from July 8 to 17, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Government of Belize, under the leadership of Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño, has officially launched the Special Electricity Committee (SEC) to spearhead the development of a National Electrical Energy Mix Master Plan. This initiative aims to secure Belize’s energy future through a reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply.

The Cabinet approved two GST-free Back-to-School weekends as part of Plan Belize 2.0 and discussed the ongoing pay dispute between the University of Belize and its union. A national Emergency Response Plan was endorsed to address the escalating sargassum issue, alongside instructions for a long-term mitigation strategy. Cabinet also approved several modernization efforts, including the rollout of a National ID system, legislative updates on municipal governance, liquor licensing, and climate change policy. Additionally, preparations were advanced for the 2025 Investment Summit, Climate Week, and full CARICOM free movement agreements, while citizens were reminded to stay prepared for the hurricane season.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW), in partnership with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and Secretaría Ejecutiva del Consejo de Ministros de Salud de Centroamérica y República Dominicana (SE-COMISCA), is advancing its commitment to public health workforce development through ongoing trainings for the third Intermediate Cohort of the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP).

The Ministry of Investment, through its Investment Policy and Compliance Unit (IPCU), in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission, and the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support & Gender Affairs through the National Women’s Commission, launched the second training for the project, “Cell Phone Repair Training for Women in Belize.” This phase of the project is being hosted at the Cayo Centre for Employment Training.

The Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation (MBEMC), in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), and other key local partners, successfully launched the Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture Response to Emergency (FARE) Training, which took place from July 7–9, 2025, in Belize City.
