Cayo Rosario Development
The Department of the Environment (DOE), within the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Solid Waste Management held a meeting with all key regulatory government agencies to discuss the Cayo Rosario Project and the concerns raised by the public. Key government agencies included the Ministry of Blue Economy and Marine Conservation, Fisheries Department, Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Forest Department, Lands and Surveys Department, Mining Unit, Central Building Authority, and Belize Port Authority.

The fiscal year for the Government of Belize typically begins on April 1, with budgets usually finalized by the following March, following parliamentary debates. However, as of April 1, 2025, the only legislative document available is the General Revenue Appropriation (2024/2025) Bill, and there has been an unprecedented delay in finalizing the budget.

UNDP Belize and the European Union Support the Community Rehabilitation Department with ICT Equipment to Enhance Case Management in Adult Alternative Sentencing
In a significant step towards strengthening Belize’s justice system, the Community Rehabilitation Department has received essential Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment valued at BZD$95,396.00. This initiative is part of the PACE Justice Project, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to enhance the capacity of the Adult Probation Unit by improving case management in Adult Alternative Sentencing.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) has launched a strategic plan aimed at improving access to universal health services for Belizeans. The program was officially launched on March 21st in Belize City. The event was attended by the ministry’s leadership and representatives from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), a key partner that provides technical and financial support to the initiative.

Senior Courts of Belize Receive Generous Donations of Law Books from the International Law Book Facility
Chief Justice, the Hon. Madam Louise Esther Blenman, of the Senior Courts of Belize, is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous donation of over 124 law books from the International Law Book Facility (ILBF) to the Judiciary of Belize. The ILBF, a London-based charity, is managed by its Chief Executive and a dedicated team of volunteers, including its Patrons, Trustees, and Operating Committee. The organization is committed to promoting the rule of law and facilitating access to justice by providing essential legal research materials. This invaluable contribution will serve as a crucial resource in advancing judicial scholarship and strengthening the administration of justice in Belize.
