Belize Welcomes Delegation from Brazil on Knowledge Exchange to Combat Child Labour
The Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour and Local Government (MRTCDLG) is excited to announce the commencement of a historic in-person knowledge exchange mission with representatives from the Brazilian Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ministry of Social Development, and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency. Facilitated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) Brazil and the Regional Initiative Technical Secretariat, this mission will run from June 24 to 28, 2024, in Belize.

Cabinet Grants Approval for Belize to Accede to Three International Conventions
On June 25, 2024, Cabinet granted approval for Belize to accede to three international Conventions: The 2015 Inter-American Convention on Older Persons, the 1996 Convention on Child Protection and the 2007 Convention on Child Support. By accepting these conventions, Belize enhances the protection of the two most vulnerable populations, children and the elderly, and also further demonstrates the Government's strong commitment to social protection, non-discrimination, equity and equality amongst all individuals.

2024 Public Service Day and Award Ceremony celebrated in San Pedro
Hosted in Ambergris Caye, the prestigious 2024 Public Service Day and Award Ceremony was a significant event that paid tribute to the dedicated public officers of Belize. The Grand Caribe West Room was the setting for this grand occasion on Friday, June 21st, which marked the culmination of a week-long series of activities in honor of Public Service Day. The Ministry of Public Service, Constitutional & Political Reform, and Religious Affairs took the opportunity to honor 108 public officers who have selflessly served the Government of Belize for 25 years.

San Pedro community celebrates Public Service Day with week-long activities
On June 23rd, Belize will observe the United Nations-sanctioned International Public Service Day. There are a series of activities organized nationwide to celebrate the special day. In San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye, the Public Service Day Planning Committee arranged various events, including a church service, health walk, and public service information day. Activities will conclude on Friday, June 21st, with the annual Belize Public Service Awards, held on the island for a second time.
