MoHW Receives Million-Dollar Equipment Donation from Belizean Diaspora

The Ministry of Health & Wellness (MoHW) received a donation of US$1.8 million worth of hospital equipment through the collaboration of Edward and Patricia Lord, generous donors from the Belizean diaspora, Build Belize Inc. and the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations. This substantial donation will be instrumental in improving Belize’s healthcare infrastructure.

CRFM Ministerial Council’s 18th Meeting addresses climate resilience, fisheries crimes, and Caribbean Blue Economy

Ministers of responsible for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and the Blue Economy from Member States of the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) deliberated on Friday, 26 April, at the 18th Regular Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the CRFM on the priority actions needed to advance sustainable development of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, while addressing critical matters such as evidence-based decision-making; climate resilience, including insurance for fishers; illegal unreported, and unregulated fishing; Sargassum seaweed; bolstering regional and global trade; capacity building and knowledge management; and growing the Caribbean blue economy.

MED Promotes Sustainable Growth and Digital Transformation in Belize

The Central Executing Unit of the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) held a joint handing-over ceremony on April 23, for two specific projects. Through the Sustainable and Inclusive Belize (SAIB) project, six extension officers were contracted to support the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise in the project implementation by providing technical guidance and coordination support to the project activities at the district Level.

Fourth Belize Forensic Science Symposium Launch

U.S. Embassy Partners with The Government of Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit on Financial Investigative Technique Training

The U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau and U.S. Internal Revenue Service partnered with Belize’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to host a weeklong training on Financial Investigative Techniques at the Princess Ramada Hotel. The training was attended by members of the FIU, Office of the DPP, Belize Judiciary, Belize Customs Department, Immigration Department, Belize Tax Service Department, and the Belize Police Department’s Mobile Interdiction Team, Anti-Narcotics Unit and Criminal Investigation Branch.
