Belize Secures Grants for Climate Adaptation

Hon. Christopher Coye, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment, is leading a delegation at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During the first three days of the event, Minister Coye, along with Dr. Osmond Martinez, Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Economic Development, held bilateral meetings, which have resulted in access of up to BZ$122 million identified and/or secured to support in-country climate adaptation and resiliency building measures.

Loss and Damage Fund to aid countries affected by climate change approved at COP28

The annual United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties, known as COP28, started in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, on Friday, December 1st. The international gathering welcomes delegations from around the world, including Belize, who discuss potential solutions to the effects of climate change. On the first day of the two-week summit, the Loss and Damage Fund was approved and launched to assist poorer countries affected by climate change-related disasters.
