MOHW Receives Medical Supplies Donation
In collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, the Straughan & Sigler Foundation, Belize Chinese Association and Build Belize Inc. donated medical supplies and equipment to the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW). This collaborative effort is anticipated to significantly enhance the quality of healthcare in Belize. The donation, valued at over BZ$100,000, will be distributed to health facilities throughout the country.

National Hydrological Service Hosts Training Workshop to Support IWRM Implementation in Belize
The National Hydrological Service (NHS) in the Ministry of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining hosted a four-day capacity building workshop on groundwater management and well drilling. The training was held from August 29 to September 1, 2023, in the City of Belmopan. The training was funded through the Inter-American Development Bank’s technical Cooperation Grant, which aims to support integrated water resources management in Belize.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hosts Inaugural Meeting of the International Cooperation Council
On September 4, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration and the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development & Investment convened the inaugural meeting of the International Cooperation Council (ICC). The meeting was hosted and chaired by Hon. Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade & Immigration.

GOB Secures Funds for the Management of the MTDS
The Government of Belize has received €400,000 (BZ$855,000) in grant funds from the European Union (EU) through its Technical Cooperation Facility. These funds will be used to support the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) in effectively managing the National Development Strategy ─ Plan Belize Medium-Term Development Strategy (MTDS) ─ and for Development Partnership Coordination.

MOHW Minister Hon. Kevin Bernard tours San Pedro Polyclinic; staff kitchen room get appliances
On Thursday, September 7th, the Minister of Health and Wellness (MOHW), the Honourable Kevin Bernard, visited San Pedro Town and stopped at Dr. Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic II to discuss how his ministry can assist the island’s main referral health facility. Area Representative Honourable Andre Perez and San Pedro Lions Club members accompanied the minister during his tour of the facilities. The visit also saw the government representatives donate a stove, gas tank, and television set for the staff kitchen room.

Belize to Grow Sustainable Blue Economy with IDB Support
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved a $7 million loan to Belize to help it sustainably expand its blue economy. The program’s overall objectives are to increase the earning potential of artisanal fishers and keep fishery exports high while promoting sustainable use of the country's commercial marine resources.

Belize: Endless Opportunities! San Pedro hosts the Belize Investment Summit
Prime Minister Honourable Dr. John Briceño officially opened the second edition of the Belize Investment Summit on Thursday, August 31st, at the Grand Caribe Resort north of San Pedro Town. The summit, held under the theme 'Belize: Endless Opportunities!' is organized to attract local and foreign investment to the country. One of the main topics highlighted at the summit's opening is the importance of exploring other aspects to build the economy, one of these being the Orange Economy, explained by special guest and keynote speaker former Colombian President Ivan Duque Marquez.

JICA and MAFSE Conduct Coconut Workshops
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has successfully conducted coconut tree management training in the Orange Walk and Toledo Districts. The two training sessions were part of the advisory services of a JICA project called COVID-19 Agricultural Value Chain Improvement in Belize, which commenced in February 2023.
