Belize Hosts National Workshop on Time Release Study

On May 15, 2023, the Directorate General for Foreign Trade and the Belize Customs and Excise Department, co-chairs of the National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NCTF), launched a National Sensitization Workshop on a Time Release Study (TRS) for Belize with technical support from the World Customs Organization (WCO). This event will take place from May 15 to 19 at the Customs and Excise Department conference room in Belize City.

Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño led Belize’s delegation at the IX Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) held in Antigua, Guatemala, on May 12. The summit was held under the theme, “Innovating integration through the sustainable development of the Greater Caribbean.” It was preceded by Senior Officials and Ministerial meetings.

Belize and Taiwan Host Award Ceremony for “Women Who Boss” Competition

On May 8, 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration and the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) held an award ceremony for the winners of the MSME Women Economic Empowerment Competition: WOMEN WHO BOSS. The competition was held under the “Enhancing the Economic Empowerment of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean in the COVID-19 Post-Pandemic Era: Technical Assistance for Women Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Inclusion” project.

Embassy of Belize in Washington D.C. Participates in Passport DC

On May 6, the Embassy of Belize in Washington D.C. joined more than 60 embassies during the “Around the World Embassy Tour.” “Events DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour and Passport DC attracts nearly 27,000 attendees each year and allows the diplomatic community to highlight the very best of their home countries,” said Angie M. The launch of Our City Plans Central America, a platform with urban planning tools aimed at municipal technicians of Central American municipalities, took place on May 2 in Belize City.

Belize and TaiwanICDF Donate Sheep to Guatemala

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE), in collaboration with the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) Breeding Sheep and Goat Production and Guidance System Enhancement Project, donated four breeding sheep to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of the Republic of Guatemala (MAGA) on April 29. The Dorper, Katahdin, and Barbados Black Belly sheep breeds will be used to improve the existing genetic stock at MAGA.
