Belize Coast Guard reports its first COVID-19 case

belize coast guard logoPress Release – Coast Guard Headquarters – 12th August 2020 – On 11th August 2020, the Belize Coast Guard Headquarters was informed by the Ministry of Health that one of our sailors was confirmed to be positive for the novel coronavirus. The infected sailor is in quarantine and recovering under the supervision of health officials.

The Belize Coast Guard has since increased measures to contain and minimize the spread among our sailors and within our ranks. Our medical staff is in direct contact with the Ministry of Health to assist with the contact tracing process.  During this pandemic, force protection is maintained and remains our number one priority.

The health and safety of the men and women of the Coast Guard is vital to our continued commitment to the citizenry of this nation.

We will continue to monitor the situation. We take this opportunity to remind the general public to stay safe, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.
