Share

The Ministry of Immigration issued a letter referenced MINS/GEN/1/01/20 (130) and dated July 20, 2020, which informed the Human Resource Manager at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) in Belize City of the waiver of Employment Permit Fee for the Filipino nurses employed at that institution. The conditions of that correspondence remain in effect to date or until otherwise changed.
The ministry informs that a total of 33 work authorizations in the form of Special Permits were issued to the Filipino nurses between September 14, 2020 and February 10, 2021, with validity up to February 17 of 2022, based on the issuance date of said permits. This continues to include all those nurses who have:
• Received Temporary Employment Permit approvals to work with the KHMH;
• Obtained renewals of said permits aforementioned; and
• Received first-time contracts with KHMH.
Both the Ministries of Health & Wellness and Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration are in discussion to further extend this waiver of fees to accommodate all other foreign health workers who are contracted to work within the healthcare system of Belize.
