Dengue outbreak affecting districts in northern Belize

An outbreak of dengue fever is reportedly affecting many districts across Belize, and the number of confirmed cases is twice that of 2018. Most cases have been detected in the Orange Walk and Corozal District in northern Belize, with more than a combined total of 350 infected persons.

Ministry of Health Confirms Quality Generic Medications

As part of its ongoing initiatives to provide quality healthcare medications, the Ministry of Health sent five different generic medications to the Caribbean Regional Public Health Agency’s (CARPHA) Drug Testing Laboratory, which is CARICOM’s regional reference laboratory for testing. The medications range from antibiotics to antidiabetic drugs that were sampled from the public sector.

Medical students and health authorities conduct fever survey after confirmed cases of dengue

In San Pedro Town, the first cases of dengue have been confirmed and in an effort to further educate the community on the disease and its prevention, local health authorities, along with medical students from the Washington University of Health and Sciences, conducted a fever surveillance in several areas of the island on Wednesday, July 10th.
