Miss Garifuna 2015/2016 and candidates receive gifts

On Wednesday, November 25th, Miss Garifuna 2015/2016 Sheila Montero, along with the other young ladies that competed in the pageant on November 18th, were presented with an array of fabulous prizes at the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC). Mayor Daniel Guerrero welcomed each one of the beauties to his office and handed out the prizes.Miss Garifuna Awarded Prizes-6
Miss Garifuna Sheila Montero received a brand new bicycle, plus a bag with gift certificates and a cash prize. First runner-up Ashanti Martinez received a coffee maker, along with a gift bag with gift certificates as well. Nicole Dunn and Zennia Nuñez each received gift bags with gift certificates and cash prizes. Everyone was recognized for their participation in the pageant and for proudly representing their culture. Among some of the prizes were lunches at restaurants, sunset tours, roundtrip flight tickets to Belize City and even golf cart rentals. Even former Miss Garifuna Tisane Martines received some surprises.

The San Pedro Sun joins the SPTC and the entire community in congratulating Miss Garifuna Sheila Montero and all the other participants on a job well done. Next year’s pageant promises to be even bigger with the display of the Garifuna culture at its best.
