The annual event is set to take place at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, and will see the participation of five lovely delegates, who were officially presented at the Island Tackle Bar and Grill on Thursday, April 6th. This year’s contestants for the pageant are Maryurit Triminio, Arianie Novelo, Babee Lopez, Nia Figueroa, and Kiriany Caal.
The brief ceremony took place shortly after 7PM, with SPHS teacher Philip Ramsey, pageant organizer commending the contestants for taking up the challenge. “We have a month to prepare for the grand night of the pageant,” Ramsey told the contestants. “There is a lot of work to be done, and we will be here to guide you all and assist you in any possible way.”
Current Miss SPHS Faith Noel, also gave some encouraging remarks to the participants who have never been in a pageant. “It’s a great experience and knowing that you can help your school as its ambassador, is another reason why you should give your best to win the crown,” Noel told them.
Before dinner, each candidate introduced themselves, expressing their excitement for being able to participate in the pageant. Figueroa, a second form 14 year old student expressed her joy for the opportunity to participate in the pageant and thanked all the support her family is giving her. Caal also 14 year old second form student shared with everyone her enthusiasm and nervousness for the opportunity. She mentioned that even though she does not have any experience in pageants she is up for the challenge.
16-year-old Novelo third former, stated that she likes challenges and looks forward to a great experience. Following her was 15-year-old Triminio from third form as well. She showed confidence as she spoke, hoping to be able to be the next beauty ambassador of her school. The last contestant, 13-year-old first former Lopez indicated that the same way she loves sports, pageant is something she looks forward to conquer and with the support of her friends and family she expects to conquer the crown of the next Miss SPHS.
After dinner, they thanked the organizers for the opportunity as they look forward to the course of preparation towards pageant night.
The pageant also serves as a fundraiser, with the goal of raising funds to replace chalk boards with white boards. Some students and even teachers have allergic reactions towards the chalk,” explained Ramsey. “From the funds collected at last year’s pageant we have been able to replace all chalk boards in all the classroom of the first form level.” Ramsey maintains that the idea is to replace all chalk boards at all levels of the school.
Everyone is cordially invited to an evening of beauty and elegance as it promises to be a great show!
