Saga’s ‘Paws and Princesses’ fundraiser held at Palapa Bar

Share

On Wednesday, August 2nd, the eight beautiful delegates for Miss Costa Maya represented their countries with vibrant colours and sounds in a National Costume preliminary competition at the Palapa Bar and Grill. The event was part of a fundraiser benefiting the San Pedro Saga Humane Society, which received much support from the girls and both visitors and island residents alike. Patrons enjoyed an evening full of music, raffles, delightful presentations by the contestants and even the opportunity to mingle and get pictures with the friendly beauty ambassadors.

The presentations started shortly after 4PM, with each girl gracing the Palapa stage. They danced and modelled their traditional costumes, giving a brief explanation on their origins. The crowd applauded loudly as each delegate shared a bit of the culture of Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

During the raffles, the girls assisted members of Saga in picking out the winning tickets. The lucky winners not only received fabulous prizes, but they also had a chance to pose with the girls. The fundraiser was declared a spectacular success.

Afterwards, the contestants retreated to their home-base at Ramon’s Village in preparation for tonight’s Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex.

Saga Humane Society would like to thank everyone who came out to support the fundraiser. Special thanks go to the management and awesome staff of Palapa Bar and Grill for hosting the event. They wish all the contestants the best of luck at the pageant.
