Saga Humane Society supporters were delighted to attend the first ever “Spay-ghetti No Balls” Dinner. Hosted at Stella’s Smile in Tres Cocos on Wednesday, April 20th, the event was another successful fundraiser for Saga’s Spay/Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP) Campaign. The activity had an excellent turnout with great music and raffles keeping supporters well entertained.SpayGhetti No Balls Saga Dinner Gala Stellas Smile-5
For a contribution of $40, attendees sampled one of the best spaghetti dinners in town. The buffet-style dinner comprised of fresh green salad, spaghetti with marinara sauce and freshly baked garlic bread. Gourmet meat balls were also available for an additional $5 each. Stella’s fabulous sangria simply added to the fun.SpayGhetti No Balls Saga Dinner Gala Stellas Smile-8
While attendees enjoyed their dinner and socialized, DJ Matt Hoy was taking requests and spinning everyone’s favorite tunes. At the same time several raffles were held and lucky winners walked away with fabulous prizes.SpayGhetti No Balls Saga Dinner Gala Stellas Smile-7
According to Saga’s Dawn LoCascio, the event was a bit different from the usual monthly cook-off. She indicated that it was also held to commemorate the visit of two veterinarians that frequently visit the island- Dr. Donald Tummons and Dr. Suzanne Stack. They have been coming to the island for many years to spend their vacation, and during their visit they always seek ways to contribute to the community through their profession. During their visit this time, they offered free surgeries through the SNIP program at Saga from Tuesday, April 19th through Thursday, April 21st.SpayGhetti No Balls Saga Dinner Gala Stellas Smile-6
LoCascio encourages all pet owners to take advantage of their spay/neutering service, as the benefits are endless. Pets are less aggressive, stray population is reduced, there is a lower the risk of cancer, and pets are less prone to roam. Additionally, the procedure can increase their life span up to five years!
Plans for next year’s event are already being discussed, and due to the success of the first one, organizers feel the second annual dinner will be extra fabulous.

Saga would like to thank everyone who attended, and they extend special thanks to Stella’s Smile, Dr. Donald Tummons, Dr. Suzanne Stack, DJ Matt Hoy, the entire Saga staff and all the sponsors who provided the prizes for the raffles.
