Island tour guides and boat captains attend Manatee Conservation Workshop

Aiming to protect and reduce the death toll of the endangered Antillean manatee, a conservation workshop was held in San Pedro Town on Thursday, October 10th. Representatives from the many tour companies in San Pedro gathered at the Lion’s Den at 7PM to participate in the event, which provided valuable information for tourism industry partners on manatees.

ACES rescues Crocodile Thomas on Ambergris Caye

On Monday, October 8th the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES) rescued a 10-foot-long American Crocodile north of San Pedro Town named Thomas, who was found with a fishing line wrapped around his snout and leading down his throat.

The identification was made by scientists of the Florida Institute of Technology, Mar-Alliance in Belize, Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory in Teresa, Florida and the National Marine Fisheries Service.

ACES relocates large problematic crocodile to mainland sanctuary
