Caye Caulker businessman robbed of his licensed firearm in Belize City

A trip to Belize City did not end well for Caye Caulker businessman 59-year-old Mauro Benito Bevans. While walking towards the center of the city, he was held up by a pair of thieves who took his licensed black and silver Ruger .9mm pistol, which he had tucked in the waist of his pants.

According to a police report, the robbery happened on Wednesday, July 28th, at about 12:10PM. Bevans reported that he was walking on Orange Street towards Albert Street, and upon reaching the corner of Duck Lane and Orange Street, he was approached by two male persons. They were on separate bicycles, and one of them pushed him against a wall and placed a black firearm to the left side of his neck. While this took place, the other thief took his gun registered with serial No. SN. 335-46006. The culprits then rode down Duck Lane in Belize City making good their escape in the direction of Water Lane.

The firearm was loaded with 17 .9mm live ammunition in the magazine and is valued at BZ$2,900. Police investigation continues.
