Island female charged with Possession of Controlled Drugs avoids jail time
Despite being arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Drugs with intent to supply, 38-year-old Osiris Yamileth Tzul avoided jail time after she was arraigned at the San Pedro Magistrate Court and served with a ‘3 Year Suspended Sentence.’ This means she was free to go home under the condition that for the next three years, she must not commit any drug-related offense or otherwise face three years in jail.

Police say Minister Perez not liable for drugs found on his boat
Following the discovery of 474 grams of suspected cocaine in a boat belonging to the Area Representative of Belize Rural South, Honorable Andre Perez, the Commissioner of Police (ComPol), Chester Williams, stated that no evidence was found to hold Perez liable. ComPol Williams reported that police believed that it was a drug peddler who had stashed the drugs in the boat. Currently, police investigation continues into this incident, and no one has been detained as they are looking for a suspect believed to have fled to the mainland.

Stolen Golf Carts found in north Ambergris Caye
On Tuesday, September 24th, at around 1:10PM, two stolen golf carts were found in secluded areas off the northwest coast of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. One of the carts was in relatively good condition. At the same time, the other had been completely stripped, with the culprits removing the engine, wheels, roof, and various other parts, making it inoperable. Law enforcement received information from an anonymous source that led to the search. Although the individuals responsible have not been caught, the police are actively investigating and seeking evidence, including fingerprints, to identify the perpetrators.

San Pedro Police Formation strengthens community policing
The San Pedro Police Formation has been active in their weekly meet and greet sessions around the island. The initiative has seen Superintendent Egbert Castillo and other police officers engaged in efforts to strengthen community policing by visiting residents throughout the different subdivisions of San Pedro Town. At their latest meet and greet, the island police force visited the DFC area, where they learned more about the needs of the people in this subdivision and listened to their recommendations.

San Pedro Police Office charged for stealing from detainee
On Tuesday, September 17th, a 28-year-old police officer attached to the San Pedro Police Formation, identified as Keir Roebin David Morey, was detained following a complaint against him. The Morey was accused of stealing the belongings of Kevin Salazar, who had been arrested at the police station.

Island resident fends off attempted attack
On Thursday, September 5th, a female resident of the island, Jamileth Espina, was assaulted by three individuals near the intersection of San Pedrito heading towards San Pablo. Espina reported that she was returning home when the altercation took place. According to her account, one of the individuals leaped onto her cart and attempted to seize her purse, while another tried to take her golf cart keys. A third individual stood in front of the golf cart, appearing to survey the surroundings. Espina successfully fended off her attackers despite these threats, averting a potential tragedy.

Coleman’s Barbershop robbed at gunpoint: Owner sustains injuries
On the night of Monday, September 9th, Roderick Coleman, a well-known island barber from the San Juan Area, was injured during an armed burglary. According to a police report, around 10PM, three unidentified men entered Coleman’s Barbershop, shooting Coleman in the leg and robbing clients at the establishment. Coleman was transported to Ambergris Hope Hospital and later airlifted to Belize City for further medical treatment. Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening, and the victim is expected to make a full recovery.
