Police Report: August 23rd, 2012

Burglary
On Saturday 18th of August 2012 at about 10:12AM, Cruz Novelo, 56 year old Belizean Security Guard of Pescador Drive in San Pedro Town reported that between the hours of 5PM on the 17th and 5AM on the 18th of August, someone broke into his house and stole one TCH brand flat screen TV valued at $900 Bze and one DVD player, brand unknown, valued at $200.

Police visited and processed the scene whereby the house was observed to be a bungalow concrete house. Entry was suspected to have been gained by breaking out two metal louvers on the northern side of the building. No arrest has been made and police continues their investigation.

On Saturday 18th of August 2012 at 9:15AM Francisco Alvarado, 33 year old Belizean Director of Grand Belizean Estates Limited reported that on the 13th of August 2012 at 7:12PM whilst he was at the Train Station Gym working out, his alarm on his phone went off which is connected to his office security system located on Barrier Reef Drive. He quickly made his way to his office where upon arrival he noticed that a flat screen TV valued at $1500, which had been on the wall was in another room on the floor, and two wireless USB were missing valued at $40 each. He called for Police assistance and with the quick response of the police, led to the detention of Ernesto Cacho. A search of Ernesto Cacho by the police led to the discovery of two wireless USBs which had been missing. Entry is suspected to have been made by breaking the glass window on the northern side of the building. Cacho was detained pending further investigation.

Aggravated Assault
On Monday the 20th of August 2012 at 8:30PM, Raquel Lino 27 year old of Los Encantos located five miles north of San Pedro Town reported that on 20th of August at about 4PM whilst she was closing the lock on the door of her employer’s house namely Mark Garyle, which is located directly behind her house, she felt someone from behind push her into the house and started to touch her breast in an indecent manner without her consent. She recognized the assailant to be Martin Medina, other particulars unknown. As a result, a struggle ensued and she managed to escape and call for Police assistance. Police is looking for Martin Medina as part of their investigation.

Damage to Property
On Sunday the 19th of August 2012 at 6:15AM Angie Paz, 36 year old Belizean businesswoman of Escalante Area reported that on the 19th of August at 5AM, whilst security was escorting Osmaine Figueroa, 32 year old Belizean maintenance worker of the Airstrip Area of San Pedro Town out of Daddy Rock Night Club, located on Barrier Reef Drive through the back exit door, Figueroa kicked the said door valued at $250 Belize causing it to break. Osmaine Figueroa has been arrested and charged for the crime of damage to property.

Harm
On Saturday the 18th of August 2012 at 9:15AM Oscar Montejo 41 year old Belizean Taxi Driver of Coconut Drive in San Pedro Town reported that on 17th of August at 3:40PM whilst he was on Coconut Drive walking towards his minivan that he rents, he was approached by one Alfonso Wiltshire Sr., 41 year old Belizean taxi driver of San Juan Area. Wiltshire then confronted Montejo about payments for the van that the complainant was renting, shortly after which Wiltshire grabbed the complainant by his neck and started to choke him causing him to feel pain. He then utter the following words to the complainant, “I will kill you,” causing the complainant to fear that the threat would be carried out.

Statement was recorded and Montejo was issued with a medical form where the doctor certified the injuries as harm. Alfonso Wilshire Sr., a Justice of the Peace, has since been arrested and charged for the crimes of harm and use of threatening words.

Possession of Control Drugs
On Tuesday August 14th 2012 at 4:45PM Tylur Swazo 19 year old Belizean Coast Guard of Belmopan City had escorted a prisoner namely Rafael Juarez 25 year old Belizean boat captain of Sea Gull Street in San Pedro Town to the San Pedro Town Police Station. Swazo handed over a gray in color plastic bag containing green like leafy vegetable substances suspected to be cannabis. He reported that on the same date at 4:30PM they intercepted a boat near Hol Chan Marine Reserve and conducted a search on the boat which led to the discovery of a grey in color plastic bag in his right front pocket. The person, Juarez, was placed under arrest. Rafael Juarez was escorted to the San Pedro Police Station where the drugs were weight and amounted to 58 grams. Rafael Juarez was subsequently arrested and charged for the offence of possession of control drugs.

Arrest
Reference to a report dated 11th August 2012 made by Roxanna Canul: Police formally arrested and charged Lorena Montes, 24 year old Belizean Shop attendant of DFC Area for the crime of common assault.

Reference to a report dated 13th August 2012 made by Corporal Andrews: Police formally arrested and charged Edwin Gilbert Henry, 29 year old Belizean self-employed of Sea Grape Street for the offence of drugs trafficking and possession of control Drugs.

Reference to a report dated 17th August 2012 made by Christopher Long: Police formally arrested and charged Naptali Acosta 39 year old Honduran Security Officer of DFC Area for the crime of burglary.
