All-Saints Day celebrated at San Pedro RC School
Thursday, November 3rd, 2016
As a yearly tradition of the San Pedro Roman Catholic Primary School (SPRCPS), All-Saints day was celebrated on Tuesday, November 1st. Many children came dressed up as their favorite saints, and participated in indoor activities, such as a mini parade and a costume contest. A few lower and middle division classes walked over to the Roman Catholic Church to attend a mass at 9AM.
Due to the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU) strike and inclement weather, Principal at SPRCPS, Roxannie Kay, explained that the school chose not to host a fair this year. “Since we are a Catholic School, the meaning of All-Saints Day is integrated into our curriculum. I believe it is important for students to learn the significance of this day. Many unexpected events arose, and we hope to have a fair next year,” said Kay.
All-Saints Day is a formal holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1st. The day is dedicated to the saints of the church, and those who have attained heaven.
