2025 Indoor Volleyball Tournament Culminates with Fierce Finals Matches

On May 18th, the Angel Nuñez Auditorium served as the venue for the much-anticipated volleyball finals and award ceremony, marking the conclusion of the 2025 Indoor Volleyball Tournament. The finals featured high-energy matchups in the senior men’s and women’s divisions, and a trophy ceremony for all divisions.

2025 Indoor Volleyball Tournament coming to a close

On Sunday, May 4th, semi-finals and finals matches for the Indoor Volleyball Tournament were held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium, showcasing a vibrant display of local talent across various age groups. The event, organized by Erick Santizo, President of the San Pedro Volleyball Association, began at 4PM and featured competitive matches in categories including under-13 males and females, under-15 males and females, and senior males and females.

The Island League Football Tournament heads to semi-finals

After 10 weeks of intense football action, the Island League is nearing its championship. Four teams will compete in the first leg of the semi-finals at Ambergris Stadium on a date to be announced. Following this phase of the competition, the top teams will advance to the finals.

The Island Football League (IFL) will begin its quarterfinal matches on Friday, May 2nd, at the Ambergris Stadium. The winners of this weekend's games will advance to the semifinals, where a new champion will be crowned at the tournament's conclusion.

Co-ed Softball Tournament continues every Sunday

On Sunday, April 27th, the San Pedro Town Council Sports continued its Co-ed Softball Tournament at the Honorable Lious Syvestre Sporting Complex (Saca Chispas Field). Residents and visitors showed up to cheer for their favorite teams. Four teams competed in a friendly yet spirited round of matches, highlighting local talent and promoting recreational activities.

San Pedro Pirates are sub-champions of the PLB 2025 Closing Season

The San Pedro Pirates Football Club (FC) has returned to the island as the sub-champions of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season. On Saturday, April 26th, they faced Verdes FC in the second leg of the finals at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District, but lost 2-0. This victory secured Verdes their ninth national title.

FFB launches new project to enhance the performance of the national men’s football team

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) launched Project Mexico-Belize, an initiative to strengthen the Senior Men’s National Football Team in preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers in June. As part of the qualifiers, the national team, known as the 'Jaguars,' is scheduled to travel to Montserrat on June 4th and will host Panama on June 7th in the capital city of Belmopan.

Daniel Gregorio and Brian Bradley of Team Maxi took first place in this year's fourth annual Kayak Race on Easter Sunday. In this highly anticipated competition, nineteen teams paddled from downtown San Pedro to the Secret Beach area, located northwest of the island.

San Pedro Pirates fall short in first leg of PLB’s finals against Verdes

On Saturday, April 19th, Verdes Football Club (FC) took the lead in the 2025 Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season finals by defeating San Pedro Pirates FC 2-0. This victory gives Verdes an advantage as they aim to secure the championship in the decisive second leg, scheduled for Saturday, April 26th, at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Cayo District.

Island Football League reaches Week 8

The Island Football League (IFL) is in its eighth week of competition. This league features eight prominent football clubs: Sea Bulls FC, Terror Squad FC, Sharks FC, Alia FC, G-Strikers FC, Vince Assassins FC, Joker Football Club, and Black Sails FC. Vince Assassins FC is leading the championship race with 21 points, closely followed by Sharks FC with 19 points. Sea Bulls FC is in third place with 16 points. All these teams are vying for the chance to claim the championship trophy.

San Pedro Pirates FC advances to PBL Closing Season finals

Despite the odds, San Pedro Pirates FC, the premier football team of the island, is heading to the finals of the Premier League of Belize (PLB) Closing Season championship. The team stunned football fans nationwide by defeating the tournament's leading team, Port Layola, with a score of 4-2 on Sunday, April 13th, at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex in Belize City. This victory, combined with a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the semi-finals on their home ground, secured the San Pedro Pirates a 5-3 aggregate score, earning them a spot in the finals.
