NEBL to host opening marathon Belmopan

The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) will commence its third annual Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 16th. The season will tip-off with an opening marathon scheduled for Saturday, December 19th in Belmopan City. All eight registered teams will be participating in the marathon. The teams are Orange Walk Running Rebels, Belize City No Limit, Belize Hurricanes, San Pedro Tiger Sharks, Belmopan Bandits, Cayo Western Ballaz, Dangriga Warriors and new franchise Independence Thunderbolts. The marathon will start at 9AM at the University of Belize Gymnasium. In round one of the tournament each team plays one game, after which the marathon will use a knock-out format, where only winning teams advancing further into the competition.
Opening game in the regular season will feature the new team, Independence Thunderbolt verses the back-to-back defending champions, San Pedro Tiger Sharks, with the game to be held at the Angel Nuñez Auditorium in San Pedro Town on Saturday, January 16th.
